David Flitner has been an instructor at Art on Boston since 2008. His oil painting classes have been well received by both beginning and more advanced students. Although landscape painting is David's specialty, students have found his instruction in oil painting's "basic fundamentals" to be applicable to their other subject matter, as well. David offers training and demonstration of oil painting techniques specifically to meet the individual artist's needs and interests in a relaxed small group environment.

David Flitner was selected to teach an eight-week evening class in spring 2009 at the Scottsdale Artists' School, recognized by Phoenix Magazine as the Valley's "Best Place for a Brush with Greatness." Scottsdale Artists' School offers a comprehensive selection of fine art classes and workshops suited to artists of all levels. David's course will have three major areas of exploration: composition; value and color. Students will learn techniques to add light and depth to their paintings. |

Scottsdale Magazine, October 2007 edition
“Artists of the Southwest: Art and Soul”
David Flitner was the featured oil painter in the October 2007 edition of the Scottsdale Magazine of Scottsdale, Arizona. In his two-page story, David was interviewed about his art and his “Love of the Land.” He spoke of his backpacking days and his continued scouting of the landscapes in Arizona in search of great painting locations. He said he was drawn to the arts in his youth and his desire to make the best paintings possible remains a continuing goal. One of David's paintings, “High Desert Beauty”, was included in the article.
In this feature story, the Scottsdale Magazine called the Southwest a home and an inspiration to many artists. Along with the three featured artists of different mediums, it also presented a sampling of the region's artists and their works, from pottery to paintings to bronze sculptures, to showcase the abundance of art found in the region.
SkyWest Magazine, January/February 2006 edition

“Cloud Interpreter”
David Flitner was the featured artist in the January/February 2006 edition of the SkyWest Magazine of United Express Airlines and Delta Airlines, with an article entitled, “Cloud Interpreter.” An interview with David gave insights into this artist’s thoughts on art and in painting landscapes. He spoke of his appreciation of the land and the feeling of liberation that comes with being able to interpret what is seen through the eye with paints on canvas.
In this edition, there also was a feature article on “Tubac, Arizona’s Art and Soul” with its first 2 full pages opening out to reveal one of David’s sunset paintings, “Southern Arizona Sunset”, splashed across them edge to edge. One of David’s paintings was included in the article, portraying a signature archway within the beautiful Tubac Golf Resort, entitled “Otero Ranch Arch.” The Tubac Golf Resort is also home to one of the Renee Taylor Galleries. Tubac, now a thriving art community, holds a very special history of southern Arizona, just minutes from the famous Tumacacori National Historic Park.

“Living Landscapes”
David Flitner was recently featured in an article about him and his artwork entitled, “Living Landscapes,” in The ArtBook of the New West, Fall/Winter 2005-06 edition. A photograph of his latest giclee, “Brilliant End of the Day,” was shown as an example of his mastery in expressing the grandeur of the brilliant colors of the mountain landscape and desert sky. It further described David’s enjoyment of the challenge such color and intensity posed as he translated nature onto canvas. |

In conjunction with the annual “Sedona Jazz On the Rocks” celebration, Tlaquepaque presents an exclusive event designed for both the new art collector and discriminating connoisseur. Keynote speaker will be Michael Quick, former Curator of American Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, followed by David Flitner, fine artist in the Renee Taylor Gallery, presenting “Red Rock Fever,” a discussion of the role of abstraction in landscape painting. Galleries will host demonstrations from their working artists during the day and special evening events. |
